What A Beautiful Day Today.....Spring Is, Indeed, On Its Way!

Hi everybody!  Decided to take a break from all my "projects" around here and hop on the computer for a bit.......we've been out and about, enjoying the wonderful sunshine and all the chirping birds!  I think winter's finally on the way out and Spring's on its way!  It can't get here too soon for me!

This year Easter's quite a bit earlier than usual.....I've always thought it to be in April only.....not so!  I've been thinking about "trying my hand" at making some chocolate peanut butter Easter eggs (kind of like the Reece's Peanut Butter Cup Eggs)......I've got a recipe or two but just have never taken the time to make them.

Whenever I think of Easter, I always think of how blessed our family is......to still have our hubby and dad with us......it was just two years ago that we came ever so close to losing him....to an often "fatal" abdominal aortic aneurysm.........but how God gave him back to us......quite a miracle!  As I thought of that, I'd also been thinking about the death and resurrection of Jesus, as well.....I am so very thankful that we can celebrate together, celebrate "retirement" together and do lots and lots of great stuff........like travelling, taking cruises, living life to the fullest.  I have several friends who have lost their spouses......and just can't imagine life without mine.........and I still do, faithfully, thank my God each and every day of my life for my precious hubby's life back.  Life has only gotten richer, happier, and we are living life to the fullest.  Truthfully, I've never been so happy in my life as I am now!

Oh.......and I was telling you about the wonderful "surprise" along our Interstate....well, the other day hubby stopped on the busy Interstate (but actually on the "shoulder) so I could get some photos of Jesus on the Crucifix.......I got 3 or 4.......when I get the photos transferred to the computer, I'll be sure to post them on here for those of you who are interested!

Anyhow, Spring is, indeed, almost here.......I can't wait to get out and really enjoy the fresh air and warm sunshine!!

It wasn't very spring like here today. About 35 degrees and no sunshine. Send some of that spring weather my way Nora.

Actually, the high was something like 40 degrees, but, the "older" I get, the more I love the cold, brisk weather.....makes me feel so invigorated, so alive, just sooooo good! I wanted to run out to Whole Foods to get some new vitamins, but we usually shop there on Sundays, after church and eating out, so guess I'll wait!!!!!

We had snow here all day, just a light coating but it is cold and raw......I am so looking forward to the warm, sunny days of Spring!

It was not like that today here I woke up to SNOW and it SNOWED off and on all day we don't have much but the ground is covered and it was only 29 degrees here today and the low was 18 tommorow it is going to be 29 again right now it is 30 degrees.

Oh no........that's got to be a real bummer........at least, though, you don't have much.......maybe you'll get warmer weather soon and it'll all be gone. Winter has stuck around too long this year, hasn't it?

Our weather has been pretty gray looking today. i have learned that if one doesn't like the weather here they can hang around awhile and it will change.. I too am ready to see spring.

It seems like we've had a lot of changes in weather lately......some good, others not so good.......it's always great to see the sunshine, though......I think it makes a person feel a lot better!!!!!

I do know what you mean about your Blessings, It's a time to be Thankful for sure.
We have our grandson, James now and we did get a few weeks break, when my Brother Died and was on the go almost every day.
Little James is 10 months old now and He is a Joy. A hand-full of Joy, :)

Oh no.........I had that problem the other night, RedBird!!!! It is so very frustrating, isn't it? Glad you finally were able to!!! Wow, Little James sure is growing fast, isn't he? It's hard to believe he's 10 months old now! How time sure does fly by!!!!

He sure is growing fast. In May he will be a year old.
He woke up this morning, ~Smiling~ and holding his arms out to me, when he woke me up, cooing. He sure is a joy and a hand full at the same time. :)

I hope the Easter Reese's PB Egg copycat works out. Those are sooo good.

I am thankful for the family I have left (my MIL just passed away this week after months of being ill), for good health and for a home over my head (even if it isn't in great condition at this point.)

Hi Risa! I'm so excited about trying the Easter peanut butter eggs.........have wanted to for such a long time, but just never got around to it!
I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your MIL........I know what you mean about the house........we need to get a number of "projects" done around here.....seems like when one owns a house, the work never, ever ends, does it?

No the work never ends. We are re-organizing the dining room and cleaning it all out. We are moving the book cases to the other side and moving my MIL's hutch in, along with some of the family china and knick-knacks and I am re-organizing my cookbooks, throwing stuff out, and we did so much in the last two days and then tonight at 11:47 I was folding laundry. It just never ends.

Oooooh, I bet that hutch is gorgeous! Sounds like you've got quite a job ahead of you, but it will all be worth it...I've got sooooo much that needs to be done around here but have been putting things off.......LOL!!!!!! However, I'm learning to stay home more so do get more done!

The daffodils started to push up, they are about one inch up...

This morning we got about half an inch of snow, and it was as warm as 27F...

Oh wow, I absolutely LOVE daffodils! You know, I've tried planting them numerous times but they never came up :( ! Guess I don't have a "green" thumb.......more like a "black" one.....LOL!!!! I do love flowers, though.......we're hoping to do some landscaping in our front yard, as it really needs it! Want to plant Pampas Grass on the one side of our house, for kind of a "privacy fence" from the strange neighbors!
Sounds like we may be getting something late tonight/tomorrow....am hoping not snow but rain......guess we'll see!
It was pretty nice all weekend, so we've been gone a lot, out and enjoying the beauty of the day, especially the great sunshine!

Friday it got up to 78 degrees and today it was 73. And tonight its now 49 degrees and cold. I can't wait til it stays warm. I want to get alot of spring cleaning done. And then work on our garden and start planting. This year I want to grow my cababage. Thats if mother nature will let me. Last year, it rained so hard it washed it all away. :( Can't wait til Easter its our grandson's first Easter. He also turns 1 April 27, 2013

I can't imagine 78 degrees, just in March! This weekend it's been 35 to 40 and I thought that was "wonderful!" Spent a lot of time outdoors, enjoying the "brisk" winds......so invigorating and it made me feel truly "alive!" I'm finding I really enjoy the cool/cold temps.........and enjoy walking in it......this new week, it's supposed to be in the 30s most all week, but that's okey.......I know Spring is very, very close!
Awwwww, what a neat first Easter! Our son's birthday is April 25th! He will be 26........yikes.......guess that makes me "older than dirt".......LOL!!!!!!!

All weekend it's been in the high 30s and maybe up to 40 or 41..........I've really enjoyed it, though, and we've been out running around quite a bit......I just love the "brisk" winds hitting my face.......so invigorating, makes me feel super alive!!!!!!! I'm hoping to get some Pampas Grass and get it planted on the one side of our house!

90 degrees here in Texas yesterday (Sat.), but had a nice cool breeze. Looking forward to Easter. The kids and grandkids coming out for the weekend.

Yikes.....90 degrees already? I could NOT handle that, not just in the middle of March.....you must get really "scorching" hot weather in the summer months!!!!!!
All weekend it's been in the high 30s and I've loved it......having the "brisk" winds in my face......ahhhhh, what an incredible feeling......I felt so really alive and totally invigorated! We've been gone most all weekend, enjoying the sunshine and weather!

Its been spring for at least 2 weeks here, today we have another fire watch due to high winds and low humidity but for now its still calm and very warm. Ally keeps wanting to go out and play so of course I go =)

Can't believe the weekend's over......we've been gone ALL weekend long......just craziness.....our temps have been in the high 30s but I've so enjoyed being outdoors.........love the brisk winds in my face......it feels just wonderful! I guess all this week our temps are to be in the 30s, but that's fine with me.........I love the "chilly" weather, as long as we don't get the white stuff!

Yikes, you call 30 chilly -- I call that FREEEEEZZZZINNNGGG -- its been between 50-86 daily for at least 3 weeks and the nites have become mild, no lower than 47 so far.

Oh hey, I saw numerous people out shopping yesterday with shorts on.......and it was about 36 degrees out......LOL!!!!! We Iowans are very "hardy" souls.....LOL!!!!!!! I love the cold air rushing against my face.....makes me feel, super alive and it's just sooo invigorating! However, I'm not a "shorts" wearer but did wear my favorites, my "leggins'!"
It's really interesting, though, the huge differences in temperatures in different parts of the country! I can't wait to see what kinds of temps we're going to experience in Alaska in August! We were told, however, to take along jackets, hats, and gloves!!!!

I would imagine each area has a different view on whats cold or hot, here we like it hot ... from May to December we are used to getting over 95 and as high as 115 but what we are not used to is humidity over 20%, if it gets higher than 20% with our high temps it kicks our butts. As for cold ... uh no, I don't do cold well, to me cold is 40 so you can imagine how I would fare in Iowa =D

That's very, very true! I lived in Florida for three years, many years ago........couldn't stand the heat/humidity so moved back home......I can't handle temps 90+............just way, way, too hot for me.......those temps make me "wilt"....LOL!!!!
Last night it did get cold here...got down to 14 degrees........it's 25 degrees out now.....funny thing, tomorrow's the first day of Spring, and it's to be our "coldest" day this week.....LOL! I think it's just going to be right at 30 or 31 degrees.....20 degrees below what should be "normal" for us this time of year......
The cold I can deal with well.......the thing I don't deal well with is ice!!!!!

I know what you mean, Ryan! Tomorrow's the first day of Spring, and it's going to be the coldest day of the week here....only 30 or 31 degrees.......brrrrrrrr! Not a great way to start Spring, for sure!

It's still been pretty chilly here but Spring starts tomorrow, even though tomorrow will be our coldest day of the week....go figure! Actually, I enjoy getting out and walking in the "brisk" winds......really does energize and invigorates me.....LOL!!!!!

Actually, I'm pretty "tough" and can handle the bitterly cold temps........and, it probably sounds crazy, but I love being outdoors when it's super cold, and have that brisk air hitting my face.....makes me feel so energetic, so very alive and just absolutely fantastic! I guess when one has lived in a state forever with such drastic temperature changes, it's as if one becomes "immune" to all the storms, ice, tornadoes, whatever!!!!! Tomorrow, the first day of Spring, our "high" will be 30 or 31 degrees (about 20 to 25 degrees below normal).....oh well! I might go out walking sometime during the day with my new headphones!!!!!
