My brother warned me in great detail of the gory blood and battle scenes in this movie and the more he described the less I wanted to watch it myself, my Dad and Brother said it's a good movie but not one for those who don't like blood and gore. Dad said it appeared very realistic based on what he remembers cousins and friends talking about when they returned from that war.
