Ok I have been holding on to the plans to make these baskets for years and finally after more then 10 years I got around to making them with Dennise's help of course. Dennis came in while we were making them so I guess he wanted me to blog about it.
Dennise and I really had a ball making these and knew the kids would just love them.
Here is the glue that holds it all together.
The balloon being covered with Paper mache'. We put about 5 layers.
We used bowls to keep them steady.
After they dried I popped the balloons.
Then we cut them out to look like cracked shells, and painted the insides.
Dennise Deocoraged the outsides of the baskets.
We only had a few paint colors as we were using paints from back when my child care was open before which was just what we had left and I haven't been up and running full boar since before Deanna was born, and she is 9 years old so the paints are probably over 10 years old, but we did pretty darn good with what we had available to us. Guess it is time to restock everything for the next set of kids coming through Marks Child Care.
Here they are all filled and ready to be hidden.
Dorothy, Lilly, and Deanna's Easter Baskets.
Not to bad for our first crack at making them.
It has been a long time since we have done Easter with baskets, candy, and eggs in Marksville so we had to do it up right. Hope you all enjoy and try this with your family next year. It was fun and the baskets are pretty strong so they should last a while.
Do you have any crafts that you do with Paper Mache'?
