Apparently after reporting that a wildlife refuge in Arizona had been closed USA Today discovered they had been mistaken and retracted the story. The Nation's Newspaper published this on June 17,
"Yesterday, we posted in On Deadline an item from the Fox News website that said the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was reporting that 3,500 acres in southern Arizona have
been closed off to U.S. citizens because of increased violence along the U.S.-Mexican border."
A small portion of the refuge is closed, to permit intense enforcement. If you are there you are probably lost, or illegal. That area has been closed for more than four years.
A report published yesterday on Gather, claims that the Obama Administration made the closure, and that is only part true. After review the closure was left standing. Not mentioned in the Gather Report, or the report on Fox News, was the fact that two point seven million acres of Federal Land in Arizona has been closed to public access since 1941. It is also along the US Mexico Border, and is the Barry M. Goldwater Range. I got to deal with the ads on this page of the Global Security Website, so if you want more about that High Hazard Military range, READ THIS.
The difficulty I see in the misinformation that Fox is willing to throw into the conversation is that MOST of their LIES are not caught, and many of them are republished. Gather, and the postings and comments of neoconservative crowd on Gather are very good places to get this misinformation. I suggest that you check what you read here before you buy into it.
APPLY THAT SUGGESTION TO THIS, AND ANYTHING ELSE I MIGHT PUBLISH AND DON'T HESITATE TO CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG. BE ADVISED, IF YOU CORRECT ME WITH MISINFORMATION, I AM LIABLE TO BECOME A VERY NASTY AND MEAN OLD MAN. I HAVE NO TRUCK WITH IGNORANCE.

FAUX NEWS LIED, AGAIN?????
Let me know if they ever tell the truth. THAT would be news.
Nice try at spin though. They printed a retraction....what do you want from them? Perfection? You wont find that anywhere.

And this was not a simple mistake, the fact is the closure was ordered FOUR YEARS AGO, covers a small part of the 35 hundred acres and there are over 2 million acres a few miles west that have been closed SINCE 1941. Have you got any Idea what that Means? OH and did you read the headline on the original Fox story. TEXAS ROCKS THIS IS NOT A RESULT OF THE INSTANT NEWS SITUATION OR THE 24 HOUR NEWS CYCLE, FOX HAD TO FIND THIS STORY.
"Uptick in Violence Forces Closing of Parkland Along Mexico Border to Americans" I read that to say that new violence has made the closure necessary, but the Fish and Wildlife Service says the closure has not changed since 2006.
A large part of the time is because they knew it was false when they presented it in the first place. And it's really sad that some people actually defend Fox's right to lie. Even that time when Sean Hannity was caught deleted lines from Obama's statement, then accusing Obama of not mentioning the very things that Hannity had carefully deleting.
Pathetic.
Give us news, not the unmoveable state of the universe.
Yes, I know. But their minds have become so impervious to facts that I'm not sure how much good it does. Even if they hear something that you'd think would force them to change their minds, they act like they haven't heard anything. This is really scary.
(sigh). Maybe one day you, or someone, will get through.
